Description
The beach is where one world ends and another world begins. It is our escape, our refuge, and our decompression chamber. But when we were younger it was our neighborhood, our hangout, our social gathering spot. To go to the beach during Spring Break, at the age I am now, is like traveling back in time and observing what once was another world. Those kids were us. Those radios played our songs. Those bathing suits turned our heads. Those seagulls knew our names. So, after Spring Break, we return to that vacant sand and we revisit that place where two worlds meet. The kids are gone and so is our own youth. But, the same wind brushes against our faces, that same surf rolls across our toes, and the seagulls are still there. And, you know what? I think they remember my name. I titled this painting, “After Spring Break.” I painted this digitally using the Procreate app, the dry brush, and the turpentine brush.
