Dudley Farms Canvas Print

Our 45th set of plein air paintings was done at Dudley Farm State Park in Newberry, Florida, on Saturday, September 15, 2012. Dudley Farm State Park is one of those places we had seen on the map and probably on road signs many times in the past but, for some reason, never visited. It turns out it provided a great setting for our plein air paintings and revealed to us a wealth of local history that had somehow slipped us by. The farm is a working farm and they continue to grow sugar cane and produce sugar cane syrup just as they did over 200 years ago with a mule providing the force that grinds the cane and releases the liquid that then is cooked into syrup. Doug Smith came with Robin and me to Dudley Farm and it was his birthday so we had a little gift giving moment for Doug and, instead of the usual turkey sandwiches or hot dogs, Robin bought Subwy sandwiches! Hu, my dog, also came along. Beautiful day, plenty of shade, and no rain.
