First Snow Toddler T-Shirt

I couldn’t wait to introduce my son, Alex, to snow. It wasn’t until the week between Christmas and New Years, at the end of the year 2000, that I made the impulsive decision to drive north from our home in Belleview, Florida.
Alex was 14 at the time. I just wanted to show him snow.
The spontaneity of my decision meant that I did no research. I just drove until dark. There was no snow and we were now in Boone, North Carolina. So we got a cheap motel and planned to drive back to Florida the next day.
During the night, however, it snowed. And it snowed A LOT. Instead of driving home, we went to a nearby ski lodge.
I paid for Alex to have a one-hour snowboarding lesson.
During that hour, I waited on the porch of that ski lodge and watched the falling snow.
A young woman stepped out onto the porch sipping a hot coffee from a glass mug. Some things are never forgotten.
Sometimes a first snow welcomes you like an old friend.
