Artist's Description
After doing many portraits and other artwork from photographs as "subjects" my partner, Robin MacBlane, and I decided we wanted to set up our easels at a location and do a series of Plein Air paintings. So we packed my car with art supplies, a picnic lunch, and my dog, Hu. Then we drove to look for a site. Most of the parks we went to had a "no domestic pets" policy and so, since we had Hu, we had to keep looking for a spot. Then, while driving east on SR 44 heading toward Deland and New Smyrna, we crossed the St. John's River and I drove down to the area used by people fishing from the riverside. The location was perfect! Robin rendered her first "plein air artwork" in this series in acrylic paint while I chose pastels.
