Plein Air Painting Number 16 was done on location on the Gulf Of Mexico in Yankeetown, Florida. We found a little picnic area with a covered table so we had shade the entire time. The area was rather active with fishermen and swimmers. One young father out crab fishing with his two daughters asked if we minded if he played Christian music on his truck stereo. We said it was okay, of course. The first song was "Amazing Grace" sung by Elvis Presley. We had just passed a sign down the road indicating that Elvis spent two months making a movie in that area in 1966. In fact, the stretch of Hwy 40 in that area was named "Follow That Dream Highway" to commemorate his presence.
