Nantucket.
Every time Robin and I had a poet as a guest on our radio program, I would always manage to squeeze in my dopey joke.
It went something like this:
“I wrote a poem once. But I only remember the first line.”
The guest, inevitably, would take the bait and ask me to recite the one line.
I would hesitate and pretend to be shy and then finally say, “There once was a girl from Nantucket.”
I think it got a laugh most of the time.
So, this painting is an homage to that memory.
By the way, I have never been to Nantucket.
The painting was done digitally on Procreate using the dry brush and the turpentine brush.
