Lately I’ve noticed I’m painting a lot of “PeopleScapes.” In this case I went to my mother’s footsteps. This is a common scene outside the Hard Rock Cafe in New York City’s Times Square. Tourists, commuters, and shoppers galore! If you’re ever there, look above the Hard Rock sign and you’ll see the old facade with the word “Paramount.” In the 1940s my Mom, still a teenager, would stand in line on this very sidewalk waiting to see Frank Sinatra. She never called it Times Square, or Manhattan, or even New York. To my Mom, this was simply “The City.” I’m guessing that hasn’t changed. I titled this, “Shopping In The City.” I painted this on Procreate with the dry brush.
